Final Images

These are the final images that are going to be used on the album cover and the magazine advertisement. I have changed the shutter spped on my camera and changed the ISO so that i was able to blur the people in the background without making the image too bright. I also changed it so they blurred only enough so that they could be recognised as people. This further keeps the focus upon the artist while ensuring that there is movement and the imagery of 'city life' throughout them.

Print mock ups

For our print advertisement and album cover we went into Birmingham city centre again to find locations and decided on these two places. By using photographs it means we were able to decide how we wanted our artist positioned. This was why we kept the first image blank so that we could see what it would look like if we positioned her in different areas. This was not the case in the second location as we knew that we wanted her sitting on the ball within the city centre. We therefore took this image as our mock up so that we could decide if could want to make any changes in the actual image that we will use. The final images will also be taken differently to these as I will be using a slower shuuter setting on my camera in order to get the people in the background blurred, but keep the main artist in focus.

Filming Practice

We were given a small brief to create a short film in a group of four that showed a problem, an event taking place to try and resolve the problem and a conclusion. This worked successfully and allowed us to experiment with using different angles as well as generally working with the camera and editing software.

Location Research

We went into Birmingham city centre in order to search for locations for both the images for the album and advertisement as well as locations for the free running parts of our music video to take place. These are just a select few of the places we photographed, we did not end up using all of these locations, but many of them were used, especially in the video.

Research of Album Covers

This album cover is relatively simple and uses a washed out sepia tone in the colouring of the image. This gives it a calmer feel and is more welcoming to the audience. It has also been kept simple with only the artist name and album title being present on the cover. This ensures that the audience remains solely focused upon the artist and therefore also links well to the magazine advertisement which also uses this image in order to make the audience focus. The same font style has also been used to link the two together, showing that they are for the same album and artist.

This album cover for monkey journey to the west is totally different to the image that appears on the magazine advertisment. However, due to them using cartoon characters on both and the same style font they have been able to associate and connect the two items together. This album cover is very busy and has lots of characters present which will all be relevant to the album in some way. However, despite all of this the character that appears on the magazine advertisement still draws the main focus of the audience as he is right next to the title and slightly darker in colour than those surrounding him helping to stand out against others.
